Martine Simonelig heads the Genetics, Cell Biology and Development department of IGH in Montpellier. She studies the regulatory mechanisms of mRNA and their involvement in developmental and pathological processes. Her team "mRNA Regulation and Development" has shown the importance of small non-coding RNAs in the regulation of mRNA for stem cell biology and during early embryogenesis. Her work on RNA granules revealing their functional compartmentalization paves the way to the use of these granules to improve RNA-based therapeutic approaches.
