Fly facility

The Drosophila Platform of BioCampus is a technical facility located at IGH and managed by BioCampus. It serves the entire Montpellier research community working on this model organism, currently supporting 18 teams across 10 research institutes (including 6 teams at IGH), representing around 100 students, technicians, engineers, postdocs, and researchers.

The platform is operated by Stéphanie Chalmeton, Florian Cros, Arnaud Lecler and Anthony Philippe. It produces 15,000 units of fresh Drosophila media weekly and maintains about 2,500 unique fly strains. It also manages and provides access to essential equipment for Drosophila work, including precision incubators, CO₂-equipped stereo microscopes, a fluorescence microscope, a fluorescence sorter, and a microinjection system. These resources make it the largest Drosophila platform in France and one of the largest in Europe.
